I should therefore feel much obliged if you could inform me how to proceed to attain my object. His Excellency the Governor may perhaps, if you will have the goodness to submit this letter to him, be able to assist me, either by some practical measure, advice, or representation to the Home Government.
My reasons for wishing to obtain Letters of Naturalization are, respect for the Sovereign of the Realm, and the love for the free institutions of Great Britain, with which I have had the good fortune to make myself acquainted whilst serving the Crown, in this Colony for more than 10 years.
I may perhaps mention that I am a born subject of the Dukedom of Saxe Meiningen.
